Address Update Improvements

We heard you, our customers, loud and clear when you stated you wanted your whole database to be updated. This week, we released an extensive improvement to how TrueGivers updates your addresses.

We want to update as many addresses as possible, so that you can be guaranteed that your database is up to date and as clean as possible. The process we take to mark an address as bad is more streamlined, and your newest addresses will always be marked as primary - even if they are not mailable.

Here is what has changed:

An address that is considered mailable on download and has all correct address data, will be updated if they do not match the USPS preferred standardization.

An address that is considered non-mailable by USPS (invalid, multi-matched or vacant addresses) will also be updated to USPS preferred standardizations.

An address that is considered a move, no forwarding will now always be marked as a Bad Primary address. This means that USPS knows this person has moved, but a new moved address was not provided. You should not mail to this address.

An account that has a move, but the moved address is not mailable will be added as the Bad Primary address. Any moved address supplied by USPS will always be added as the Primary address. This will greatly simplify your reports within Bloomerang.

You now have full control over how addresses that have customizations are handled during synchronization. Customizations mean that we identified attention or addressee details within your address block.

Any Bloomerang customer that activated the integration on or before 8/23/2019 has the following default settings for Customizations:

Bloomerang old default setting
Bloomerang old default setting

If your address was downloaded into TrueGivers, and we identified customizations in the street block, we would not update that address in Bloomerang. This address would stay exactly the same because of the customization identified 'Otter and Sons'.

If TrueGivers found a moved address, and we identified customizations in the street block on the downloaded address, then we would add the new address in Bloomerang as the Primary address. We would not include the customizations on the new address. The downloaded address would have no change because of the Existing Addressee Option = Skip.

If your address was downloaded into TrueGivers, and we identified customizations in the street block, now we will update that address in Bloomerang to be standardized. The address will follow USPS preferred address standardizations, and also retain the attention and addressee data on the address.

If TrueGivers found a moved address, and we identified customizations in the street block on the downloaded address, then we would add the new address in Bloomerang as the Primary address. We would copy the customizations on to the new address. The downloaded address would be standardized and retain the customization because of the Existing Addressee Option = Copy.

Don't forget! We create Addressee tasks for any account that we have identified a customization. We always recommend that these extra details are added to the Envelope Name field within Bloomerang rather than within the Street Block.
